Freshwater sport fishing brings substantial revenue to the province of BC. Highlights from the 2013 BC Freshwater Sport Fishing Economic Impact Report include:
- 3,119 person years of employment (up from 2,500 person years in 2005)
- 286,167 active anglers (up from 270,800 in 2005)
- $545 million in direct angler expenditures (up from $480 million in 2005)
- Every $1 invested in services delivered by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC returned an average of $24 in angler expenditures (up from $21 in 2005).
