Fish are everywhere in waters around the globe. They have adapted to live in all oceans and most fresh water ecosystems on the planet and are able to live in different environmental conditions. They occupy key niches in food chains, being prey and food for other species. Humans have exploited fish for hundreds of generations, and this has founded communities, supported cultures and created wealth over the centuries. Fish populations are the bellwether of the health of our aquatic ecosystems.

It could be said that as fish go, so go we.
